During peak periods, e.g. school holidays and public holidays, both the ARTIS car park and multi-storey car parks and roads in the neighbourhood fill up quickly. It is therefore a good idea to travel by public transport on peak days. That way you'll spend less time in traffic jams and more time enjoying ARTIS.

Directions by public transport

Tram: Tram 14 (Amsterdam Centraal - Flevopark) stops at the ARTIS, close to the main entrance. Trams 7 (Slotermeer - Azartplein) and 19 (Station Sloterdijk - Diemen Sniep) stop at Alexanderplein, a ten-minute walk from the main entrance.

Metro: The nearest metro station is Waterlooplein. Metros 51, 53 and 54 stop here from Amsterdam Centraal. From the station, it is a ten-minute walk to ARTIS. 

Bus: Buses 22 and 43 run from Amsterdam Centraal to Kadijksplein. From there it is a six-minute walk to ARTIS.

Parking

ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo has its own parking facility. Visitors can take advantage of discount parking fees. The parking facility is only 150 meters away from the main entrance of ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo. The parking lot is located beyond the main entrance (Plantage Kerklaan 40). A number of parking spaces for the disabled are available. There are also six electric car charging spots. These can also be found in regular parking spots, two of which can be found opposite the Plantage.

Parking tickets are available at the ticket window or at the parking ticket machine at the main entrance.

Micropia visitors can park on the ARTIS parking facility and take advantage of discount parking fees.

Smart tyre pump 

At the ARTIS car park, you can now use a smart tyre pump for free. Because a car driving on properly inflated tyres uses less fuel. The pump has a touchscreen display that tells you the correct tyre pressure via the license plate number. The device helps with the right settings and displays what is happening during use. Afterwards, you immediately see the savings in euros, litres of fuel and reduced emissions.
