Educational visit rates

An educational visit to ARTIS includes a guided lesson, a worksheet, or a Planetarium show. The school trip package combines a scavenger hunt or another interactive educational activity in ARTIS-Park with an ice cream for students and coffee or tea for teachers.

Booking and reservations

Don't forget to book your educational visit online at least one week in advance.

When visiting ARTIS, you can reserve an educational programme free of charge. Through interactive lessons led by ARTIS educators, live presentations, worksheets, and scavenger hunts, students discover and explore the wonders of nature. You can also combine a lesson or live presentation with educational materials, such as a worksheet or scavenger hunt. Every educational school trip at ARTIS is designed to align with the national curriculum objectives.

ARTIS locations

At ARTIS, students discover how nature works and how they are part of it. From the tiniest organisms at the microbe museum ARTIS-Micropia to the infinite universe in the Planetarium. Come face to face with a wide variety of animals and plants in ARTIS-Park and the Aquarium, and explore the role of humans in nature at the ARTIS-Groote Museum.

Your journey to ARTIS

During busy periods, such as school holidays, it is advisable to come by public transport or bike. The ARTIS parking lot and nearby garages tend to fill up quickly.

Visit ARTIS with public transportation

ARTIS is easily accessible by tram, metro, and bus. Tram 14 from Amsterdam Central Station stops at the ARTIS stop. Trams 7 and 19 stop at Alexanderplein, from where it’s about a 15-minute walk to the main entrance. The nearest metro station is Waterlooplein, and from there it’s a 10-minute walk to the main entrance.

Visit ARTIS by car or coach

ARTIS has its own parking lot, located past the main entrance, with a designated area for coaches. It’s a 150-meter walk from the parking lot to the main entrance.

Coaches

Coaches may park on the ARTIS premises throughout the year on weekdays when visiting ARTIS.

On weekends, public holidays, and during school holidays (Northern Netherlands region), a parking request must be submitted in advance via info@artis.nl. We will check whether parking is available. Parking is only permitted after you have received confirmation.

During weekdays in the low season (1 November to 28 February), coaches may also park without visiting ARTIS.

For coach parking without a visit to ARTIS on weekends, public holidays, during school holidays (Northern Netherlands region), and throughout the high season (1 March to 31 October), it is mandatory to submit a parking request by email in advance.

ARTIS is accessible to everyone. To make your visit as pleasant as possible, various facilities are available.

Don’t forget to reserve a start time online at least 1 week in advance. You can also book a lunch package for your visit. ARTIS offers a choice of two different packages.
