Experience three new art experiences at ARTIS this autumn. See nature differently through the eyes of artists.

Deep seeing currents by Olafur Eliasson

Descend into the deep sea without leaving the Aquarium. In the monumental rotunda of the ARTIS-Aquarium, step into Deep seeing currents, a permanent installation by world-renowned artist Olafur Eliasson. Darkness, sounds from the ocean, vibrations and light transport you to a world that is normally beyond human reach.

Studio ARTIS

Watch art come to life in the heart of the museum. At Studio ARTIS, artists create new work live, inspired by nature. Four artists will take turns working in a specially designed studio in ARTIS-Groote Museum. Follow the creative process, talk to the artists and discover how nature finds its way into their work. Anouk Griffioen kicks off Studio ARTIS on 9 October.

The Night Watch lives

Even a masterpiece is teeming with life. Which microbes live on The Night Watch? ARTIS-Micropia and the Rijksmuseum are working together to investigate the microbiome of Rembrandt’s most famous painting. In The Night Watch Comes Alive, a life-size reproduction reveals the microbes found on the painting. On view at Micropia from 11 November.
