Méraque

Mèraque stems from passion and curiosity. A passion for music from the Balkans and curiosity about what happens when you mix it with influences from South America and the Middle East. Get carried away by the energetic percussion, lively electronics, Arabic oud and melancholic accents of the clarinet. All these elements merge into mesmerising live sets full of improvisation, where the souls of the dancing audience and the musicians connect.

The collective was founded by Jorick Bronius and Martin Grozdanoski, who previously worked together in various musical formations. They both grew up loving Eastern and Balkan folk music. The adventure with Mèraque gives them a fresh canvas to express their passion and explore synergy with electronica.

The Méraque collective is based in Amsterdam, but its musical roots are all over the world.
