Visit ARTIS via the water with the Cultuur Ferry

– April 15, 2024

From April 25, 2024, the Cultuur Ferry introduces a new way to explore Amsterdam: a hop-on-hop-off experience over the water, passing by over thirty cultural highlights of the city, primarily located in the Plantage district and the Oosterdok. The journey begins from Amsterdam Central Station. The aim is to utilize the Amsterdam waterways in a sustainable manner, connecting the city's cultural heritage.

Sustainable transport

The Culture Ferry is a collaboration between cultural institutions, including the Museum Rembrandthuis, NEMO Science Museum, the Scheepvaartmuseum, and ARTIS. With docks located within short distances from the institutions, visitors can easily embark and disembark. At ARTIS, there are two locations where you can embark and disembark, namely: Entrepotdok and Plantage Muidergracht.

The journey lasts a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes, and a historic sloop departs from Amsterdam Central Station every 35 minutes. Museum guides on board narrate the city's rich history and the institutions along the route. Visitors can choose when to embark and disembark and which museums to visit. The Culture Ferry is suitable for all ages.

Practical information and tickets

The Culture Ferry operates from April to October on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm. Tickets cost £28 per adult, including the museum guide on board. With a ticket, visitors can embark and disembark unlimitedly for 24 hours. To stay informed about the boat's location, visitors can download the Culture Ferry app. Children up to 4 years old can travel for free, and older children at a reduced rate. People with a VriendenLoterij VIP card receive a discount, and those with an Amsterdam City Card can embark for free. Tickets for the journey are available from late April via the Cultuur Ferry website .
