Feel that everything is alive at the 20th edition of ARTIS Summer Nights

The 20th edition of the ARTIS Summer Nights is dedicated to Planetary Health: a healthy future for the Earth and all its inhabitants. In addition to the familiar programme of live music, picnics in the grass and a route for children, there are plenty of activities to reconnect with nature this summer.
Taste plants from the edible garden, listen to activating stories from future thinkers and leave your own promise to the Earth. Feel, hear, see, smell, taste, sing and dance along with everything that lives on the Summer Nights.
Opening weekend 8 and 9 July
The opening weekend kicks off Planetary Health at ARTIS. From the early morning hours until sunset, there will be activities for people from all ages at ARTIS Zoo. Start the day with yoga, listen to stories from activating speakers in the Insectarium, attend a bokashi-making workshop, dance along with up-and-coming musical talent Guusje (8 July) and Sophia (9 July) and end the day with a film programme in collaboration with Cinetree in the Planetarium.
Summer Nights until 2 September
During the golden evening hours and surrounded by the animals, trees and flourishing flowerbeds of ARTIS, you will feel how unique planet Earth is during this 20th edition of the summer nights. Every Saturday, from 8 July to 2 September, various future thinkers such as Babette Porcelijn, Li An Phoa, Jessica den Outer and Koen Arts will give inspirational sessions. Afterwards, people can dance along with up-and-coming musicians, like Someone, Guusje, Tim Dawn and QUIQUE.
Experience walk
Listen to the different sounds in the park, discover the vital role of microbes, taste what grows in the edible garden and make a promise to the earth in the ARTIS-Planetarium. The walk is an encouragement to experience all life in ARTIS Zoo more consciously. Connect more deeply with planet Earth.
Spaceship Earth
In the entire universe, there is only one planet where we know for sure there is life. However big earth may seem, compared to the vastness of the universe, it is less than a grain of sand. Discover the fragility of our planet in the Planetarium's new live show 'Spaceship Earth', which can be seen every day this summer.
Children's yoga, puppet show and children's route
For young visitors to the Summer Nights, there is also plenty to do. From traditional puppet shows with Jan Klaassen and Katrijn, a musical performance full of animal stories by Kareltje & Sjonnie to children's yoga. In the children's route children will discover, among other things, how temperature affects the eggs of a false gharial.
