Nature conservation project Armenia
In 2010, ARTIS began working with the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) on the realisation of a large-scale nature project in Armenia.
Love and care for nature
The Caucasus, which includes Armenia, is designated as a 'hot spot'. This means that the region is one of the richest and one of the most threatened regions on earth in terms of biodiversity. The local population's awareness of the value of nature and the importance of preserving it is extremely low, however. The goal of the project is to convey love and care for nature to the local population.
Support from ARTIS
ARTIS offers not only financial assistance, but also substantive knowledge about collection plans, the care of animals and plants, garden zoo design and animal enclosure architecture. ARTIS also helps gain political support amongst local governments, for example, in order to be able realise various projects.
